For this game there is 3 main time periods for the events/history of the game
The prehistoric era, the colonisation era, and the modern day, (the story of the game itself), all of which centre in the region of Halora (inspired by Australia)
PREHISTORIC ERA: (100,000,000 years before the modern day)
In this time halora was a barren wasteland, there was no sun in the sky, and no inhabitants aside from Irazenbris, a harsh creature that innately despised life. At one point in time, while Irazenbris was in hibernation, a gentle being came down from the stars in the night sky; Vurvenjil. Vurvenjil took pity on the dead lands, thus used its light to breathe life into the land, scattering it’s celestal energy into every plant and creature it created. After its work was complete, it ascended to the sky and cocooned itself, becoming what is known in the modern era, as the sun.
Eventually after Irazenbris’ hibernation it awoke to a lush jungle landscape surrounding it, outraged it rampaged against the world, annihilating everything in its path to restore its homeland. The following day, Vurvenjil rose on halora once again. Vurvenjil took note of this transgression and decided to remove irazenbris from the world. They battled for 50 Megaannums (50 million years), eventually, an airborn protector of the planet; Rayquaza decided to step in and assist vurvenjil. Due to Vurvenjil’s absence from the sky, life all across the planet was dying out, thus rayquaza took over the fight with irazenbris until one either fell, or vurvenjil could concoct a plan to defeat it.
After a long fought battle vurvenjil decided to create a great storm above Mt. koori, a lonely snowy mountain on the east side of Halora, where no Pokemon or proto-humans would be. This storm culminated billions of MJ of energy all consolidating into Dondaka, the Thundering heart Pokemon.
At the same time, this storm attracted millions of lost souls slain by Irazenbris to the peak of Mt koori.
The snow swirled in the storm, the wind howled. And these souls were swept up into this storm, merging together and becoming Sotorum. A hivemind of sorts possessing a single vessel.
To protect the surviving Haloran people, Vurvenjil sent them to the eastern side of Halora, and had Rayquaza cut the island in 2.
While this was happening, Dondaka and Sotorum fought with Vurvenjil to defeat Irazenbris, one of which being destroyed in the conflict. Eventually, Vurvenjil sealed Irazenbris underneath an enormous attack, creating swirling sand that was instantly condensed and burned into a mixture of rock and glass.
In memorial of the lost saviour (either Dondaka or Sotorum) the humans erected a statue atop Mt koori built from refined topaz or lapis. Some humans returned to the western island, to preserve their history and culture, while others stayed on the eastern to remain a safe distance from Irazenbris. To assist in future endeavours, Vurvenjil taught the humans of the time how to directly speak with pokemon, a skill only still held by specific tribe elders in the modern day.
COLONISATION ERA: (3,000 years before the modern day)
At this time, in the Galar region the “darkest day” was occurring. A large group of Galarians, fleeing from the catastrophe, arrived in Halora. In the fear, prejudice, and miscommunication with the native Halorians they imprisoned them, built infrastructure, suppressed native Haloran culture, and brought in Galarian influences and Pokémon. Until about 300 years before the modern day, the legal rights of Native Halorians were extremely minor, after several protections and laws were passed, native Halorians were given equal rights, and allowed to re-establish a traditional tribe society, separate from the modern infrastructure developed by the Galarian people, if they so wish, with the goal of preservation over replacement. 20 years before the modern era, Irazenbris awoke below the surface if Teraka rock, and evolved to produce psychic waves capable of mind controlling humans. With the rock as a buffer, only one signal was released from underneath, a signal that was received by Liam, a generic civilian. Following this liam would found team IBIS, an evil team dedicated to freeing irazenbris from underneath Teraka rock.
MODERN ERA:
In the modern era, the main character lives in a town called Halorina on the smaller southern island of Halora. While heading to the mainland for a trip to meet with cousins, Team ibis invaded the cruise, attempting to steal all the cargo onboard, in a ditch effort, Professor Fig gifts the player a starter Pokémon, and they fend off a team ibis admin: Yu.
After making it to Bloomsii town the professor decides to let you keep the Pokémon.
You travel to Skybreak city and find your cousin. They battle you, and they suggest you attempt to beat the pokemon gyms.
You travel to the Aureus mine in Geomin town. There you meet Victor, a ghost type specialist waiting out front of the Geomin pokemon gym. Victor tells you that a cavein happened in the mine and that the gym leader went underground to rescue trapped minors.
To pass the time, you travel to Orocastor, a small museum near Geomin town. There you encounter the Archeologist Libby. You battle him in the museum and he gifts you a pokemon as a thank you for keeping him company, either a Scorbunny, Piplup, or a Bulbasaur, each with their own new Halorian regional variants.
After travelling back to Geomin town you are able to battle with the rock type gym leader: Bubby.
During this battle you are introduced to the “Celestal” mechanics. And are gifted a Nova crystal by the gym leader after defeating him. Afterwards he directs you to the Nova drive store in Geomin town, where you are given a chosen nova drive gauntlet by submitting your nova crystal.
Next you travel north and travel through the Wyfern forest before reaching Wyfern city and battling the Dragon type specialist gym leader: Maiya.
Afterwards you head south across the. Bayside harbour bridge to Bayside harbour.
After arriving in the harbour you have a run in with Team ibis again, while they are ransacking an abandoned pokeball factory. There you meet the bayside harbour gym leader, and resident water type specialist, chasing down their sibling: Emma (a fairy type specialist), now the team ibis admin leading the raid on this facility. Eventually they manage to escape out to sea, but not without leaving behind an enchanted mineral, one of either topaz or lapis depending on your game.
After the run-in with Team ibis you battle against Sophie’s gym and buy a bike from the bike shop in town.
Now with a bike in hand you can travel back through skybreak city, geomin town and Aureus mine to the cycling road, traveling the great southern road. At the end you arrive at Flutterleaf town, battling it’s gym leader: Ben or Gabriel (exclusive to pokemon topaz, and pokemon lapis respectively). While here you can also visit the Corandirk tribe nearby.
After defeating the gym, you take a bus tour to see Teraka rock. However while viewing the rock, the enchanted mineral in your pocket begins glowing and a sandstorm picks up, in the panic you are knocked unconscious by other people rushing to safety.
When you come to, the sky is clear but you are unsure as to where you are. Having to wander aimlessly through the desert you arrive in Digitomia. Where you mail the mineral to professor fig for analysis, and while here, you battle the Electric type specialist and digitomia’s gym leader: Ruby. After winning ruby gifts you a mega bracelet giving you access to mega evolutions, along with a mega stone for your chosen starter pokemon.
After the battle there is an explosion from outside the gym. Both you and ruby rush outside to see what is going on and the nearby pokeball factory is burning down. Water type pokemon are already on the scene, and as the resident gym leader ruby rushes into the building to make sure everything is ok inside, and you follow after her. Eventually encountering the 3rd and final team ibis admin: Alix, the dark type specialist. After defeating a plethora of team ibis grunts and alix himsell, They flee Digitomia.
While inside of the factory, searching through rooms players can find a masterball prototype. This being one of the reasons as to why team ibis was here in the first place.
After resolving the issues with the pokeball factory, it is left in inoperable conditions (until after the beating the pokemon league)
Next you travel north east to Jetstone city. Here you battle the steel type gym leader: Ninis.
After beating the gym you encounter Victor again outside the post office. You battle and he asks for you to pick up a package with him. But while inside you notice that a letter has arrived for you from professor Fig. presumedly he knew you would come this way for the gym challenge and intentionally mailed it here. Inside is details about the enchanted mineral. And a request to meet him on Piplup island south of SkyBreak city, to meet with the Skybreak city gym leader; Lynn.
After meeting with Professor fig and lynn on piplup island you discuss the lab results, finding engraved coordinates in the mineral lining up with Mt koori. Lynn is the only person who knows their way around Mt koori, and thus will be your guide up the mountain. As this conversation is happening, a series of halorian piplup would be walking on the beach in the background.
Just then, a lab assistant runs in, yelling that team ibis was seen scaling Mt koori.
You rush up the mountain, dealing with team ibis grunts on the way up, as well as Emma and Alix again. After you arrive you find dondaka(or)sotorum and liam. Dondaka(or)Sotorum places a glowing orb against the statue of their sibling. Reanimating it.
[ As it turns out, after the death or their sibling, dondaka(or)sotorum spent millennias gathering fragmented pieces of their counterpart’s soul(or)heart scattered across halora. ]
After this liam immedietly throws a masterball at Dondaka(or)sotorum, capturing It instantly, before challenging you to a battle.
After defeating him, and without a secondary masterball (e.g. the one that you received from the pokeball factory), liam is unable to capture the awakened sotorum(or)Dondaka. And flees down the mountain to teraka rock.
Now, the awakened legendary pokemon, unsure of where it’s elegances lay, battles you, where you can capture it. If not however it will still join you for the final battle against irazenbris.
Suddenly, the sky goes black. And you rush to Teraka rock in virtually the middle of the night.
On your way you find Libby who travels to the rock with you.
Here you find Irazenbris and Liam standing over the collapsed body of Vurvenjil, who was shot out of the sky.
As irazenbris and liam are about to fight you one-on-one (as libby isn’t quite the strong battler) rayquaza flies in and slams irazenbris into a wall. Here is where you battle Liam for the last time. After the fight, a now conscious vurvenjil, rayquaza and dondaka/sotorum all fight with you to defeat an extremely agitated irazenbris. Here you cannot catch irazenbris. (you can return to underneath Teraka rock after defeating the champion to attempt to recapture it).
After re-sealing Irazenbris you may return to the gym challenge, via a boat in jetstone you can reach Soudas, where you may fight the grass type gym leader: Tina.
And by heading south from there you can return to Geomin town and skybreak to face the 8th and final gym leader: lynn, an ice type specialist.
To beat the game you have to returm to your hometown of Halorina, and go down further on the map to the pokemon league, where you would face Auston: the fire type elite four member, Ella: the ground type elite four member, Siena: the Poison type elite four member, Riri: the psychic type elite four member, and finally the league champion; Fifi
(note that throughout the game you would encounter your friends (your cousin, victor, and Libby) several times for additional lore drops and friendly battles)
(this world is a repurposing of my original characters: Ayami and Roku Kanoshi)
In this world when life-or-death situations occur, people are transported to a pitch black place called “the fall” it is a psychological place where people are given a choice, and a challenge, they either give in to the falling feeling on their bodies, or seek to find 2 lights in the endless darkness. This place is a test of willpower.
If they are able to find it, they are gifted a superpower, one suited to protect them and others from the danger they are facing. Then they are transported back into the same millisecond they left. From the outside not seeming to have moved at all. With a simple instruction in their head of how to “win” in this scenario
Those that use these powers to protect the people were titled as Warriors, and although it is quite outdated in the modern times, the term has stuck for over a century.
A more Apt term would be “heroes”
In some unique instances, people return to The Fall, when their power can’t save them. If they escape again, then they exchange their power for another, then another individual can gain their old power if it would help them in their circumstance.
The lights that an individual finds, are not as simple as they seem. Although there is no physical body of it in this place, the lights are eyes. Eyes of a much larger being than humans. It cannot speak, it cannot blink, it cannot harm, and it must yield a power with the basic instructions to use it. Most people forget what happens in the fall, like waking up from a dream
One individual: Roku Kanoshi, was gifted the power to create a spherical shield made up of translucent hexagonal shaped plates of an indestructible material.
After this happened Roku’s parents were extremely adamant that he should become a warrior, bringing in fame and fortune to the family. However he was rejected from this line of work, simply because his power was seen to be exclusively defensive, with little to no ways to fight against a threat.
Roku’s younger sister: Ayami would also receive a power shortly after. This happened during a fire at her school. The flame warrior: FlameWeaver was on the scene, but Ayami and a classmate got trapped in a classroom, a burst of flames shot through the door and directly at them, And she was sent to the fall.
After coming back to reality Ayami had a power that allowed her to create a solid wall of fire to block the oncoming flames. Additionally, a few hair strands of hers shifted hue to a red colour.
She found very quickly that her hands were burning from holding up the wall, at that point FlameWeaver managed to rescue them, Ayami passing out from pain and smoke inhalation.
After she came to in the hospital, her hair had changed again, now brandishing pinkish-orange colours. FlameWeaver was there, watching over her in the hospital.
After she was able to speak and think again, flameweaver suggested she look into joining the Warriors. He also spoke about an ‘incident’ when she was unconscious, when the doctors were washing off the dirt and grime from the fire her hair turned blue, and a thin pole of water shot out of her hand, injuring one of them.
(I haven’t written anymore information for this story yet)
Potential story points
Perhaps “the fall” is the real world, this ‘Thing’ in the fall is protecting people from the endless feeling by keeping them in this “dream”
Death is a release from the dream, an accepting of the fall
People are forced to dream to avoid the reality of the circumstance
In the “dream” time is flexible, technology and power is as well, this would explain why the outdate term of “warriors” is still around, but technology is advanced far beyond our current standards.
Perhaps people intentionally cause these life-or-death circumstances to attempt to create superpowers.
Wishing to use this powers for their own gain.
Maybe in this world, when people ‘dream’ of a falling sensation it is actually them half-awake feeling the endless drop.
Introducing “the fall” early could be a way to avoid the problem of “it was all a dream” some stories face, where they change the context of the entire plot right at the end
